How can I configure an incentive/surcharge that doesn't fit in Builder?
The Premium Incentives/Surcharges feature in Builder is specifically designed to support scenarios where the same dollar amount is either deducted from or added to the premiums across all applicable plans.
So for example if a group offers two plans, a PPO and an HMO, and the wellness incentive is a 10% discount on the premiums for those plans then it needs to be set up a different way!
Setting Up an Incentive/Surcharge as Multiple Premium Groups
By creating multiple premium groups with an eligibility question attached, you can ensure that users will be shown accurate rates for their situation.
Using that example group above, a configuration might look like this:
The standard rates would be configured under the "non-wellness" group and the rates with the 10% discount applied would be configured under the "wellness" group.
It may be important to remember that the structure of the premium groups carries across all medical plans the group offers. This means if the incentive/surcharge does not apply to a particular plan you would enter the same rates in the "non-wellness" and "wellness" group so that users are shown the correct rates for the plan that is unaffected by the incentive/surcharge regardless of how they answer the question.
