Does your client offer a tobacco cessation/surcharge, spousal surcharge, wellness credit, or anything else that could alter an employee's premium costs? Builder allows you to create premium incentives or surcharges that get attached to your medical plan premiums. ALEX will ask all users if the incentive or surcharge will apply and then can automatically do the math to determine the accurate premium amount plus or minus the surcharge/incentive.

  1. Navigate to Insurance>>Medical>>Premium Incentives and Surcharges. If you don't already see an incentive/surcharge under the header, you can add one by clicking "+add new".

  2. Fill in the details of the incentive/surcharge. Take a look at the click-by-click instructions linked above for additional detail on each setting and how it will affect your incentive/surcharge calculations and appearance.

  3. Attach the incentive/surcharge under Insurance>>Medical>>Medical Plans>> [eligible] Medical Plan Name>>Premiums

  4. Turn on incentives/surcharges under the "Premium Incentives & Surcharges" header. Select your incentive/surcharge from the dropdown.
