Adding a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Account (LFSA)

Click here for click-by-click instructions with screenshots of each step or read on for the key points...

  1. Navigate to Accounts>>Healthcare FSA>>Healthcare FSA 1 to open the FSA and enter the account details. If you don't see an FSA under the Healthcare FSA menu you can add one by clicking "+add new".

  2. Enter in all the FSA details.

  3. Attach the FSA to any eligible medical plans. Navigate to Insurance>>Medical>>Medical Plans>> [eligible] Medical Plan Name>>Tax Advantaged Accounts. Under the FSA/LFSA header, change the toggle to say an FSA is available. Select the FSA from the "Select Items" drop-down to attach it.

Note on Limited FSAs: ALEX will automatically refer to an FSA as Limited Purpose when attached to a medical plan that also has an HSA attached. So there's no need to create a separate LFSA. Just attach the standard FSA to any medical plans with an HSA and let ALEX handle the rest for you!

  4. If the FSA can be enrolled in independently from a medical plan, also attach it to the Tax Savings plan. Navigate to Accounts>>Tax Savings>>Tax Savings Plan>>Tax Savings Plan 1. Attach the FSA under the Healthcare FSA header.

Note: If employees must enroll in an eligible medical plan to enroll in the FSA, leave the healthcare FSA under the Tax Savings plan set as, "A healthcare FSA is not offered." This will ensure ALEX only references the FSA when an employee selects an eligible medical plan.
