If your customer offers a Health Savings Account, Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Dependent Care FSA (DCFSA), or Commuter Benefit you’ll want to make sure the Tax Savings module is enabled and eligible accounts are attached to their medical plan’s tax advantaged accounts tab.
The Tax Savings module works hand in hand with the Medical module to illustrate the cost benefits of contributing to any tax advantaged accounts employees might be eligible for. This module acts as ALEX’s calculator; it uses the medical plan an employee selects, and crunches the numbers to show how much money they could save by contributing to associated health accounts as well as a DCFSA or Commuter Benefit.
Head to Enable Products/Modules and click on "Benefits Counselor/ALEX Go" to open up the list of modules.
Check off "Tax Savings". This will automatically turn on Healthcare FSA. If that is not something your client offers, you can uncheck it.
Tax Savings and Healthcare FSA will show up under the Accounts menu. You'll also have the option to configure a DCFSA and/or Commuter Benefit under Tax Savings.
After configuring the details of each account, attach them to the Tax Savings plan under the corresponding header.
Only attach the Healthcare FSA to the Tax Savings plan if employees can enroll in it independently from a medical plan. Otherwise, attach it to only the eligible medical plans so ALEX knows to only reference the healthcare FSA when an employee selects an eligible plan.
Always attach the DCFSA and Commuter Benefit to the Tax Savings plan if those are offered benefits.
