Once a Garner HRA is added to your configuration, ALEX will be able to educate employees on using Garner approved top providers in order to receive HRA funds. If a Garner HRA plan also has an HSA, ALEX will tell employees they must meet a minimum deductible amount before they can use HSA funds.

ALEX will automatically factor in the HRA (and HSA) funding when showing estimated costs and giving a plan recommendation. More info will also appear in Benefits Counselor and ALEX Go about how the Garner HRA works.

Instructions for configuring are below:

  1. In Builder, head to Insurance>>Medical>>HSAs and HRAs. Click "+add new" if a new account is needed.

  2. Give the account a nickname (that only appears in Builder) to help differentiate between accounts. You'll likely eant to nickname it "Garner HRA".

  3. Set the healthfund type as "HRA" from the drop-down

  4. Under the HRA section you'll see a toggle, "Reimbursement is not/is limited to expenses from select providers (Garner HRA)". Set this to "is".

  5. A new toggle will appear below that, "This account may/may not be used alongside an HSA once the minimum deductible is satisfied." Leave this set to "may".

  6. Once you've configured the rest of the HRA details, attach it to any eligible medical plans under their Tax Advantaged Accounts tab.

  7. If a plan uses both the Garner HRA and an HSA, attach both to the plan's Tax Advantaged Accounts tab.

Note: A medical plan can only have an HSA and HRA attached to it when the HRA is Garner.
